The first of the two central claims of the minimalists, is based on the premise that writing history is never objective, but includes the selection of data and the construction of a narrative using preconceived ideas about the meaning of the past. That history is never neutral or objective always raises questions about the accuracy of any historical account. The minimalists argue that the literary structure of the biblical history books is so obvious, and that the intentions of the authors are so clear, that scholars must be extremely careful in interpreting them properly.
