Madaba is a city with many years of history, located in western Jordan. The city, , is located about 9 kilometers south of the approximate location of the ancient city of Chashman and to the north of Nahal Arnon. The meaning of the name Madaba is not clear. It was proposed to interpret as a “resting place”. Midaba became known and even became a tourist center due to the discovery of the Midaba map, an extraordinary map from the sixth century AD found in an ancient Byzantine church, which depicts the Land of Israel in its broad borders.
