Tel Ta’inat is located in the south-east of Turkey, at the southern end of the Amuk. It sits on the Orontes River, on the bend of the river in its turn towards the Mediterranean Sea. Right next to it is Allahach (Tel Atchana), which was the capital of the region in the second millennium BC.
Between the third millennium BC and Iron 1, the site was not inhabited. We can therefore see the reason why Allah was the capital in the second millennium BC, at a time when Tel Ta’inat was not inhabited at all. The collapse of the Hittite Empire led to the collapse of Allah, and those who abandoned this site probably moved to Tel Shalid and over time turned it into the new capital of the region – the Kingdom of Patina
