Hamath

Hamath is an ancient city located in western Syria, on the banks of the Orontes River. It has a long and rich history, Hamath is mentioned in ancient texts and inscriptions, including the Bible. It was an important city in the ancient kingdoms of Aram and Assyria and later became a major center of trade and commerce under the Romans. During the Byzantine period, Hamath was an important center of Christianity and was home to several churches and monasteries.
