Lod

Lod is the only known city in the entire Middle East, which was inhabited during the entire period from 8000 years ago to the present day. Throughout most of its history, Lod was an important city on the axis of the “sea route”, which connects Egypt with the countries in the north and therefore had military and commercial importance. In the Bible, Lod is mentioned in connection with the tribe of Benjamin and as one of the captives of Zion, and in the Persian period Lod becomes an important Jewish center, which exists until the Bar Kochba revolt.
