Akhmata also known as Ekabatana was an ancient city in what is now western Iran. It was the capital of the Midim, with ancient Persians, and is known for its impressive fortifications and multi-layered palace. The city was also famous for its wealth and its strategic location at the crossroads of several important trade routes. In the 6th century BC, Ecbatana was conquered by the Persian king Cyrus the Great and became an important part of the Persian Empire. It continued to be an important city throughout the centuries and was mentioned by many classical writers, including Herodotus and Xenophon. Today you can still see the ruins of Akbatana in the city of Hamadan in Iran.
In the book of Ezra, it is told (in Aramaic) about documents related to the proclamation of Cyrus, which were found in Beit Ganzia, i.e. Ganzach, in Achmata, after King Darvish ordered to check for them in the cities of the kingdom
