Persepolis

Persepolis was the capital of the ancient Persian Empire. Located in what is now modern day Iran. The city was known for its impressive architecture and was the center of political, cultural and economic power of the Persian Empire. It was founded by the Persian king Darius I in the 6th century BC and was the seat of Persian kings for more than 200 years. The city was destroyed by Alexander the Great in 330 BC, but many of its ruins still remain and are a popular tourist attraction.
