Dor city was founded 3,500 years ago on top of a hill alongside the Mediterranean Sea and was one of the most important cities in Israel. Dor was the largest fortified port city between Acre in the north and Jaffa in the south and its port flourished from trading in the eastern basin of the Mediterranean. On the top of the hill, archaeological excavations uncovered numerous remains from different periods.
